Coastal Magic of Southern England
Preliminary program:
1. 2nd Day: Austria – Metz/Reims – Dover – Southern England
The journey begins with an early departure. We travel swiftly, with regular breaks, via Munich to the Reims area, where we end the first day with a cozy dinner and overnight stay.
The next morning, we continue our tour and reach the charming English coast via Calais and Dover. There, the famous seaside resorts of Eastbourne and Brighton await us, captivating with their unique charm. Dinner and overnight stay will be in the Eastbourne or Portsmouth area.
3rd Day: Hampshire – “Isle of Wight”
Our discovery tour through Southern England takes us today to the enchanting “Isle of Wight”! This picturesque island, once the summer residence of the British royal family, enchants with its lush plant and flower splendor, charming villages like Godshill and Shanklin, as well as impressive cliff landscapes. The “Isle of Wight” is a true jewel and promises unforgettable impressions – a highlight of the journey that we can look forward to! After an eventful day, we return to the mainland and spend the night in the Bournemouth area.
4th Day: Rosamunde Pilcher
On the fourth day, we continue to the impressive Exeter Cathedral before reaching Torbay Bay, which enchants with its Mediterranean atmosphere. Afterwards, we immerse ourselves in the magnificent world of the manor house and gardens of Mt. Edgcumbe, which gained fame through numerous Rosamunde Pilcher film adaptations (optional boat trip entrance fees, as the visit depends on film shoots on site). The day ends with a cozy dinner and overnight stay in Devon.
5th – 7th Day: Cornwall – Newquay
We can look forward to three unforgettable nights in beautiful Cornwall, in a first-class hotel in Newquay. This picturesque destination is the true heart of Southern England and is considered the Garden of Eden of the region – a highlight of our journey! During our stay, we immerse ourselves in the legendary landscape of Cornwall, which is unparalleled with its colorful gardens, idyllic fishing villages, impressive cliffs, and historic pubs. Here we experience a postcard idyll of sea, beach, waves, and wide fields.
Highlights include the world-famous Eden Project, a fantastic exhibition grounds for garden and flower art, as well as Land’s End with Penzance. We drive along the legendary St. Michael’s Mount and visit the charming St. Ives as well as the unique Trebah Garden, located directly by the sea.
Cornwall is also the home of the legendary King Arthur. A whole day is dedicated to him and his mysterious history. We follow the traces of the royal court and visit sights such as Tintagel (King Arthur’s castle) and Prideaux Place in Padstow, a well-known filming location for Rosamunde Pilcher movies. Cornwall will delight us with its radiant blue sky, green meadows, and refreshing surf. An additional optional excursion (€ 45) with more exciting details follows.
8th – 11th Day: Newquay – Dover – Calais – Austria
After the unforgettable days in Cornwall, we continue through the picturesque counties of Somerset and Wiltshire. Here we discover impressive sights such as the monumental cathedral in Wells and the magnificent Longleat House, an imposing manor house with a fascinating history. We end the evening with a delicious dinner before settling into a cozy hotel in the Sussex or Kent area for the last night in beautiful Southern England.
The last two days of our journey take us through France and Germany. After an overnight stay en route, we finally reach our home after a comfortable journey – filled with unforgettable impressions and many memories of Southern England.
